Frat Rap

Frat rap is the party rap that conquered American college campuses in the late 2000s and early 2010s: light, melodic hip-hop about drinking, girls and campus good times, made by mostly white, mostly suburban MCs and spread by blogs and YouTube rather than radio. *Asher Roth*'s "I Love College" (2009) opened the lane, *Mac Miller*'s early mixtapes and debut album "Blue Slide Park" made him its biggest star, and a campus touring circuit carried *Hoodie Allen*, *Sammy Adams*, *Chiddy Bang* and *Mike Stud* from dorm rooms to sold-out college shows.
