French Electro

French electro is the hard, maximalist strain of French electronic dance music that succeeded French house in the mid-2000s. Centered on the Paris label #Ed Banger Records#, it compresses electro house, disco samples, hip hop and rock into distorted, sidechained tracks built from chopped samples, sawtooth bass and drums mixed to the point of overload. *Justice*'s debut "†" (2007) defined its sound and image — arena-scale riffs delivered with club mechanics — and its leading producers, among them *Mr. Oizo*, *SebastiAn* and *Kavinsky*, made Paris the center of the blog-house era.
