Full-On Psytrance

Full-on is the melodic, high-energy strain of psytrance that became the genre's dominant festival sound in the early 2000s, centred on Israel and Brazil. It runs at 140-148 beats per minute on a driving four-four kick and rolling offbeat bassline, with bright, arpeggiated synth leads, acid lines and euphoric melodic climaxes in place of goa trance's darker complexity. Tracks are engineered for outdoor dawn sets, layering gated riffs, vocal fragments and sci-fi samples over the relentless bass. Producers such as *Astrix*, *GMS* and *Skazi* made full-on the commercial face of psytrance.
