Funaná

Funaná is a Cape Verdean genre from the island of Santiago, played on the gaita diatonic accordion with the ferrinho iron scraper, in fast, cyclical rhythms for dancing. Suppressed under Portuguese rule, it was modernized by *Bulimundo* and *Ferro Gaita* and mastered by *Codé di Dona*, as heard on "Fundu Baxu".
