Funk 150 bpm

Funk 150 BPM is the accelerated form of funk carioca that took over Rio de Janeiro's bailes in the late 2010s, raising the music's traditional beat from around 130 to 150 beats per minute. Developed at the Baile da Gaiola in Complexo da Penha by *DJ Polyvox* and *Rennan da Penha*, it compresses the tamborz茫o pattern into faster, denser loops over which MCs chant short, repetitive phrases built for continuous dancing. Its emblematic voice is *MC Kevin o Chris*, whose "Vamos pra Gaiola" topped Brazilian streaming charts in 2019, and its economy is singles, DJ sets and social media rather than albums.
