Funk mandelão

Funk mandelão, also called ritmo dos fluxos, is the São Paulo strain of Brazilian baile funk that emerged in the late 2010s around the street parties — fluxos — of the city's peripheries, taking its name from the Baile do Mandela in Praia Grande. Against Rio de Janeiro's funk carioca, mandelão is darker, heavier and more electronic: blown-out 808 bass, minimalist synth loops and the piercing tuin, a siren-like tone layered into the beat, carry short, repetitive chants from MCs. Produced almost entirely on computers and phones by teenage DJs, it is built for car sound systems and open-air bailes rather than clubs or radio.
