Futuristic Swag

Futuristic swag was the Atlanta-centred rap movement of roughly 2008 to 2012, the ringtone era's second wave, in which young artists such as *Yung L.A.*, *J Money*, *Roscoe Dash* and *Travis Porter* made bright, Auto-Tuned pop-rap over synth-heavy, danceable beats. Named for its obsession with futuristic fashion and 'swag' as total self-presentation, the style favoured sing-song hooks, ad-libs and dance tie-ins over lyricism or street narrative. Hits such as "Swag Surfin'", "All the Way Turnt Up" and "Ain't I" made it briefly dominant in Southern clubs and schoolyards before trap's darker minimalism displaced it.
