Glitchcore

Glitchcore is an internet microgenre that split from hyperpop and digicore in the early 2020s, defined by aggressively corrupted production: bit-crushed keyboards, stutter edits, blown-out distortion and sudden digital breakdowns set against emo and pop songwriting. Made by teenage bedroom producers trading files on SoundCloud and Discord, it is associated with *glaive*, *ericdoa*, *midwxst* and *aldn*, whose pitch-shifted vocals and confessional lyrics ride beats that sound deliberately broken. Its visual world of blown-out memes, anime stills and deliberately degraded artwork is inseparable from the music itself.
