Goa Trance

Goa trance is an electronic dance music genre that developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s at open-air parties in Goa, India, and was codified on record in the mid-1990s. It is built from driving four-on-the-floor kick drums, rolling sixteenth-note basslines and dense, Eastern-tinged acid melodies generated by analogue synthesizers, layered at 130 to 150 BPM into long, psychedelic tracks. Labels such as #Dragonfly Records# and #TIP Records# issued defining albums by *Hallucinogen*, *Astral Projection*, *Etnica* and *The Infinity Project* before the style evolved into psytrance.
