Hands Up

Hands Up

Hands up, also styled HandzUp! and known as dancecore, is a German electronic dance music genre of the early 2000s that rebuilt eurodance for the commercial trance era. Its tracks run at 138 to 155 beats per minute on offbeat basslines and hard kicks, topped with supersaw synthesizer riffs, pitched vocals and sentimental pop hooks arranged in strict verse-chorus form. Acts such as *Cascada*, *Groove Coverage* and *Scooter* carried the sound across the European charts, while a dense scene of German and Polish producers - *Manian*, *ItaloBrothers* and *Rob Mayth* among them - sustained it through compilations, cover versions and remixes.
