Hardbag

Hardbag was a British dance music style of the mid-1990s that hardened the piano-led formulas of handbag house with faster tempos, hoover stabs, offbeat bass and Euro-trance riffing. Played at London clubs such as Trade and released by labels including #React#, #Hooj Choons# and #Tripoli Trax#, it favoured short, high-impact singles over albums and produced a run of UK chart hits between 1994 and 1996. Producers such as *Tony De Vit*, *Mrs Wood* and *Blu Peter* defined its sound before it fed directly into UK hard house and hard NRG at the decade's end.
