Hardcore Punk

Evolving from the initial wave of punk rock in the late 1970s, hardcore punk amplified its predecessor's velocity and aggression. The genre is defined by a deliberately raw and unpolished sonic texture, built upon overdriven guitars, propulsive basslines, and fast, often blast-beat-oriented drumming. Vocals shifted from melodic singing to declamatory shouting or screaming, delivering confrontational lyrics that addressed social and political themes. This ethos of directness and anti-commercialism shaped a decentralized, do-it-yourself (DIY) subculture that established independent record labels and touring circuits, fundamentally altering the underground music landscape.
