Hyperpop

Evolving from the conceptual art-pop of the #PC Music# collective, hyperpop is a maximalist microgenre that deconstructs and exaggerates pop conventions. Its sonic identity is defined by a chaotic collision of pitched-up, heavily processed vocals, abrasive digital synthesis, distorted 808s, and saccharine melodies drawn from bubblegum pop and Eurodance. It embraces a digital-native ethos, merging disparate influences from emo rap to nightcore and glitch music into short, intensely energetic compositions. Initially an underground internet phenomenon, its surreal aesthetic and radically inclusive viewpoint have significantly infiltrated mainstream pop production, shaping the sound of a new generation of artists.
