Indorock

Indorock

Indorock is the rock and roll played in the Netherlands from the late 1950s by musicians of the Indo community — Dutch-Indonesians repatriated from the former Dutch East Indies. Centred on The Hague, its bands favoured fast, virtuosic instrumental guitar music drawn from American rock and roll, country and Hawaiian records, with twin lead guitars, theatrical stage antics and occasional kroncong colouring. The *Tielman Brothers* and the *Blue Diamonds* led a scene that dominated Dutch and German club circuits before British beat music displaced it in the mid-1960s.
