Industrial Ambient

Industrial ambient is a form of dark ambient music built from the sounds of machinery and industrial space: drones, metal percussion, field recordings of factories, air ducts and electrical hum, processed into slow, cavernous soundscapes. Emerging from industrial music's tape and noise experiments of the late 1970s, it replaces rhythm and melody with texture and spatial suggestion, evoking derelict plants, bunkers and infrastructure. Artists such as *Lustmord*, *Thomas Köner* and *Zoviet France* define its canon, which overlaps drone and dark ambient while keeping the machine, rather than nature or ritual, as its central image.
