Industrial Punk

Industrial Punk

Industrial punk is the strain of punk and hardcore that replaces or augments the guitar band with industrial music's tools: drum machines, samplers, tape loops, metal percussion and deliberately abrasive electronic noise. Its lineage runs from *Chrome* and *Killing Joke* through *Big Black*, whose drum-machine-driven attack made the fusion explicit, to the EBM-hardcore of *Youth Code* and the noise-punk of *Uniform* and *Street Sects*. The genre keeps punk's compression and confrontation — short songs, shouted singing, anti-authoritarian themes — while its factory-floor sonics and mechanised pulse distinguish it from both guitar punk and dancefloor industrial.
