Jumpstyle

Jumpstyle is a hard dance style from Belgium and the Netherlands built on a distorted 909 kick drum, a four-on-the-floor beat at 140 to 150 BPM and simple, shrill synth leads, named for the acrobatic kicking dance performed to it. Born in Belgian clubs at the turn of the 2000s from hardstyle and gabber, it peaked commercially in 2006-08 when *Jeckyll & Hyde*'s "Frozen Flame" and "Freefall" and *Patrick Jumpen*'s tracks topped Dutch charts and *Scooter* carried the sound across Europe on "Jumping All Over the World".
