Keller Synth

Keller synth, often used interchangeably with tänzelcore, is a microgenre from Saarland, Germany, that forces together dungeon synth and hard electronic dance music: crude, lo-fi synthesizer melodies evoking medieval fantasy soundtracks are driven by gabber kicks, hardcore tempos and blown-out, deliberately cheap production. Born in the black metal underground in the late 2010s, it treats the dungeon synth vocabulary of wizards, castles and forests with absurdist irony, pairing photocopied tape-trade artwork and neon-green goblin imagery with music made to be danced to as much as smirked at.
