Latin House

Latin House

Latin house is house music built on Afro-Cuban and Latin American percussion and melodic material: congas, timbales, and montuno piano patterns riding the four-on-the-floor kick, with Spanish-language vocals, salsa brass stabs, and merengue or samba rhythms folded into the club framework. New York's Latin freestyle and salsa scenes fed directly into it through producers such as *Masters at Work*, whose *Louie Vega* and *Kenny Dope* partnership and projects like *Nuyorican Soul* made the fusion definitive. From New York and Miami clubs the style spread internationally, remaining a staple of soulful and tribal house floors.
