Lolicore

Lolicore is an internet-born offshoot of breakcore that collides extreme tempos and chopped breakbeats with samples from anime, J-pop and video games. Tracks pitch-shift girlish voices, dialogue and sugar-sweet melodies against gabber kicks, noise and machine-gun drum edits, treating otaku culture as both raw material and satire. Made by anonymous or pseudonymous producers and circulated free through imageboards, MySpace and netlabels rather than clubs or shops, the style favours two-minute sample-collage blasts. *Goreshit* defined its classic form in the late 2000s; the scene later contracted, and its provocative name has pushed many successors toward the neutral label mashcore.
