Lovecraftian Ambient

Lovecraftian ambient is a current of dark ambient organised around the cosmic horror of H. P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos: sound worlds of abyssal drones, detuned clusters, cavernous reverberation and inhuman gestures that evoke ancient entities, forbidden knowledge and human insignificance. Where generic dark ambient trades in dread, the Lovecraftian variant names its sources, titling works after Mythos places, texts and gods, and building albums as rituals or expeditions into places such as R'lyeh and Kadath. Since the 2010s the Swedish label #Cryo Chamber# has been its centre, gathering producers including *Atrium Carceri*, *Apocryphos* and *God Body Disconnect*.
