Lowend

Lowend is Milwaukee, Wisconsin's homegrown rap-and-dance sound of the 2020s: short, bass-heavy tracks built on a metronomic handclap on the eighth note, snares landing on the one and three, and looped melodic samples, made for dancing as much as rapping. Documented as a named subgenre in the early 2020s, it was pioneered by producer-rappers *Certified Trapper* and *AyooLii* and carried nationally by *J.P.*, whose "Bad Bitty" broke out in 2024. Lowend fuses bounce, hyphy, and twerk influences into a distinctly Milwaukee party music, its songs often under two minutes and engineered for social-media dance clips.
