Mashcore

Mashcore is a style of breakcore, the name coined by the English producer *Shitmat*, in which the mashup is pushed to an extreme: dozens of recognisable samples, chart pop, metal, television themes, novelty songs and advertising jingles, are collaged over hyper-edited breakbeats at rave tempos. Where conventional mashup blends two songs coherently, mashcore delights in overload and incongruity, treating the entire history of recorded pop as raw material and piracy as a creative ethic. Emerging from the British and European breakcore underground of the early 2000s, it is breakcore's most populist and humorous wing.
