Mexican Music

Mexican Music

Mexican music is the umbrella for Mexico's popular and folk traditions, a family of regional styles carried by mariachi ensembles, norte帽o bands, brass bandas and solo singers. Its best-known forms include the ranchera, the emblematic song of love, loss and national pride sung over mariachi trumpets, violins and guitarr贸n; the corrido, a narrative ballad of heroes and events; son jarocho from Veracruz; and the bolero repertoire shared across Latin America. Shaped by Spanish, Indigenous and African inheritances and spread worldwide by Mexico's film and recording industries, it remains central to Mexican identity at home and in the diaspora.
