Neo-Grime

Neo-grime is the instrumental, melody-led revival of grime that developed in London in the early 2010s, largely through the Boxed club night and labels such as #Keysound Recordings#, #Planet Mu# and #Local Action#. Producers including *Mr. Mitch*, *Logos* and *Slackk* stripped grime of its MCs and rebuilt it from glassy synth melodies, Eski-style square waves, weightless bass and sparse, half-time drums. Where first-wave grime was built for pirate radio clashes, neo-grime is composed listening music, closer to ambient and soundtrack work, while keeping grime's cold timbres and rhythmic DNA.
