Neurohop

Neurohop is a mid-tempo electronic genre that transplants the sound design of neurofunk drum and bass — morphing, frequency-split 'neuro' basslines — into the slower, swung rhythmic space of glitch hop. Coined by the producer *Kursa* around 2011 and developed by *KOAN Sound*, *Culprate*, *Skope* and the Bristol-centred label #Inspected#, it runs at roughly 90–110 BPM, favouring punchy, heavily compressed drums, intricate glitch edits and bass sounds that twist and re-form bar by bar. Where glitch hop leans funky and playful, neurohop is darker and more technical, treating each bass patch as a mutating organism set over fractured, hip hop-derived grooves.
