Noisecore

Noisecore

Noisecore is an extreme offshoot of hardcore punk and grindcore in which songs collapse into seconds-long bursts of distortion, blast-paced drumming and screamed or growled singing, with riffs deliberately reduced to noise. Pioneered in the late 1980s by *Anal Cunt*, *Sore Throat* and *7 Minutes of Nausea*, the style favors provocation, absurd humor and sheer overload over conventional songcraft, often packing dozens of micro-tracks onto a single release. Japanese acts such as *The Gerogerigegege* and *Melt-Banana* pushed it toward performance art and spastic virtuosity, while later bands treat it as a bridge between punk extremity and harsh noise.
