Nu Skool Breaks

Nu skool breaks is a British electronic dance style that emerged in the late 1990s, rebuilding breakbeat around the production values of drum and bass, techno and UK garage. Where earlier breakbeat hardcore looped sampled funk drums, nu skool producers programmed and processed their own beats, layering them over deep sub-bass, filtered synths and precisely engineered sound design. Tracks are dark, spacious and functional, built for large club systems, and the scene centred on London labels such as #Marine Parade#, #TCR# and #Finger Lickin' Records#. Its leading figures included *Adam Freeland*, *Stanton Warriors*, *Plump DJs* and *Hybrid*.
