Nuevo Cancionero
The Movimiento del Nuevo Cancionero was the Argentine musical and literary movement launched in Mendoza in 1963, when a group of young musicians and writers, among them *Mercedes Sosa*, *Armando Tejada G贸mez*, *Oscar Matus* and *Tito Francia*, published a manifesto calling for a renewal of the country's popular song. It proposed re-evaluating native folk music as the voice of the poor and marginalised, opening it to contemporary poetry, new harmonies and the realities of modern Argentine life. The movement became the Argentine foundation of the wider Latin American nueva canci贸n.
