NWOTHM

NWOTHM, the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal, is a revival movement of the 2010s in which younger bands recreate the sound of early-1980s heavy metal and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal: twin-guitar harmonies, galloping bass, high clean vocals and denim-and-leather presentation. Formed largely through internet communities and specialist labels, flagship acts such as *Enforcer*, *Cauldron* and *White Wizzard* modelled themselves on *Iron Maiden*, *Judas Priest* and *Diamond Head* rather than on thrash, death or modern metal, and the movement sustains a global circuit of festivals and small-label releases.
