Occult Rock emerged in the late 1960s, fusing the amplified blues of hard rock with the experimental textures of psychedelia. The genre is defined by its thematic preoccupation with esotericism, witchcraft, and pagan ritual, moving beyond simple horror tropes to explore darker spiritualities. Sonically, it is characterized by distorted guitars, prominent organ or Mellotron, and theatrical vocals, exemplified by early progenitors like *Coven* on their 1969 album "Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls".
