Piano Pop

Piano pop is popular music built around the piano as lead instrument, with the singer usually also the songwriter and keyboardist. From *Billy Joel* and *Elton John* through *Ben Folds*, *Keane* and *Regina Spektor*, the format pairs confessional or story-driven songs with virtuoso keyboard playing, as on "Piano Man" and "Hopes and Fears".
