Piosenka aktorska

Piosenka aktorska, the 'actor's song', is a Polish tradition of sung theatre in which the performer interprets a text as a miniature drama, subordinating vocal display to character, gesture and meaning. Closely related to sung poetry and the literary cabaret of Krak贸w and Warsaw, it sets Polish poetry and specially written texts to music by composers such as *Zygmunt Konieczny*, delivered in cabarets, theatres and at festivals including the Przegl膮d Piosenki Aktorskiej in Wroc艂aw. Its ideal is the singing actor: every song a short play, every performance an act of interpretation rather than mere presentation.
