Punk Rap

Punk rap is a fusion genre combining punk rock and hip-hop: rappers perform over distorted guitars, live drums and hardcore tempos, or produce rap records with punk's speed, abrasion and anti-authoritarian posture. It took shape in the late 2000s and early 2010s as a generation raised on both scenes began treating them as interchangeable, and overlaps heavily with trap metal and the music press's "punk trap" label. Defining records include *Denzel Curry*'s "TA13OO" (2018), *Slowthai*'s "Nothing Great About Britain" (2019) and *Death Grips*' "The Money Store" (2012), alongside *Ho99o9*, *JPEGMAFIA* and *Bob Vylan*.
