Rasteirinha

Rasteirinha, also called raggafunk, is the slow wing of Rio de Janeiro's funk carioca, resting near 96 BPM where mainstream baile funk runs at 130 and above. Built by baile DJs in the early 2010s, it replaces the tamborzão's aggression with a loping groove of atabaque-style percussion, pandeiro and tambourine samples, beatboxing and dembow-inflected swing borrowed from reggaeton and dancehall, under playful, chant-like vocals. *MC WM*'s "Fuleragem" made it a national pop currency, and its unhurried sensuality opened funk to melodic pop and axé inflections.
