Rock en Espa帽ol

Rock en espa帽ol is rock music sung in Spanish, the umbrella for the national scenes that consolidated across Spain and Latin America from the late 1970s. After decades of covers and censorship under dictatorships, bands such as Argentina's *Soda Stereo* and *Charly Garc铆a*, Chile's *Los Prisioneros* and Mexico's *Caifanes* and *Caf茅 Tacvba* built original repertoires that filled stadiums and defined a shared market. Industry campaigns of the 1980s carried the label worldwide, and the term now denotes both a marketing category and a genuine common culture of Spanish-language rock.
