Rock rural

Rock rural is a style of popular music that fuses rock and North American folk rock with the traditional music of the countryside, created in Brazil and echoed elsewhere in the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world. Its signature sound sets electric and twelve-string guitars, harmonica and accordion against the ten-string viola caipira and the rhythms of the toada, the xote and the moda de viola, while close vocal harmonies modelled on *Crosby, Stills & Nash* carry poetic lyrics about rural life, the land and escape from the city. In Galicia, the related brav煤 movement gave the formula a harder, humorous edge.
