Russian Post-Punk

Russian post-punk is the post-punk and new wave music of Russia and the Russian-speaking post-Soviet world, from the Leningrad and Moscow undergrounds of the 1980s to the internet-era revival of the 2010s. It favours minor-key bass lines, drum machines or economical live drums, chorused guitar and detached baritone vocals, with lyrics in Russian. *Kino*, led by *Viktor Tsoi*, carried the style to stadium scale before 1990; *Zvuki Mu* took it abroad. Revival bands including *Motorama*, *Ploho*, *Human Tetris* and the Belarusian *Molchat Doma* renewed it for streaming audiences.
