Sasscore

Sasscore, also called sass or white belt hardcore, is a flamboyant subgenre of post-hardcore that flourished in the United States around 1998 to 2005, led by *The Blood Brothers*, *The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower* and *Black Eyes*. Against hardcore's masculine codes it set dance-punk rhythms, screamo's shrieked and lisped vocals, homoerotic and absurdist lyrics, thrift-store fashion and deliberately provocative stage behaviour. Its heavier white belt grind wing, *Daughters*, *An Albatross* and *The Locust*, pushed the same attitude toward grindcore and mathcore.
