Scam Rap

Scam rap is a Michigan-rooted subgenre of hip hop in which the lyrics are a running catalogue of fraud: swiping, stolen card numbers, fake cheques, identity theft and the 'pieces' and 'bins' used to cash out. It emerged from Detroit and Flint in the late 2010s around *Teejayx6* and *Kasher Quon*, delivered in a deadpan, conversational flow over sparse, piano-led Michigan production. Tracks are short, dense with slang and step-by-step boasts, and the genre spread online through viral singles and the *ShittyBoyz* and *BabyTron*, treating white-collar crime as street hustling's digital successor.
