Scouse House

Scouse house is the bouncy dance music of Liverpool and the North West of England: happy-hardcore tempos around 140-150 BPM, piano riffs, euphoric female vocals and the elastic offbeat bass 'donk' that later gave the wider style its name. Born in Liverpool clubs at the end of the 1990s and industrialised by the Wigan label #All Around The World#, it was a singles and compilation culture led by *Ultrabeat*, whose "Pretty Green Eyes" reached number two in 2003, *Alex K*, *BCD Project* and *KB Project*. As it spread beyond Merseyside it merged into UK donk and hard bounce.
