Sexy Drill

Sexy drill is a New York drill offshoot, also called sample drill, developed in the Bronx in the early 2020s by *Cash Cobain* and *Chow Lee*. It rebuilds drill on chopped, sped or slowed samples of 1990s and 2000s R&B and pop, replacing the genre's sliding 808 menace with smooth, flirtatious loops over which rappers trade melodic, sexually explicit verses. Where classic drill documents street conflict, sexy drill is party music about desire and status, and its softer palette carried drill into mainstream pop and R&B collaborations while keeping its New York slang, dance references and producer-tag culture.
