Slap House

Slap House

Slap house is a commercial house subgenre that emerged in the late 2010s from Brazilian bass and the Lithuanian scene around the label #Lithuania HQ#. Its name comes from the oversized, frequency-modulated 'slap' bassline that answers each vocal phrase at the drop, set against sparse deep-house drums, triplet fills and pitch-shifted, effects-heavy vocals, usually covers or interpolations of familiar songs. *Dynoro*'s "In My Mind", *VIZE*'s "Glad You Came" and *Imanbek*'s remix of *SAINt JHN*'s "Roses" carried the formula from European radio to global streaming between 2018 and 2020. Built almost entirely from singles, it privileges instant hooks over album statements.
