Slimepunk

Slimepunk is an internet microgenre and aesthetic that split from seapunk around 2011–2012, the term coined by *Zombelle*, one of seapunk's creators. Where seapunk looked to the ocean, slimepunk wraps itself in toxic green: slime, radioactive waste, 1990s gross-out television and mall imagery. Musically it has no single template — documented participants such as *Le1f*, *Bleep Bloop* and *NastyNasty* draw on acid house, distorted bass music, hip hop and heavy sampling — the corrosive, aggressive ethos and imagery, amplified through Tumblr, being the unifying principle that critics of the internet-microgenre era singled out.
