Speedcore

Speedcore

Speedcore is an extreme form of hardcore techno defined by tempos that begin around 300 BPM and can exceed 1,000 BPM in its extratone offshoot, at which point the kick drum blurs into a continuous tone. Tracks are built from heavily distorted, clipped kick drums, abrasive synth noise and shouted or sampled vocals, often carrying violent or transgressive imagery. It developed in the 1990s as producers in Germany, the Netherlands and the United States pushed gabber beyond its tempo ceiling, and from the 2000s a Japanese doujin scene led by *m1dy* and the #Sharpnelsound# circle reshaped it with melodic, rhythm-game-friendly variants.
