Swedish folk music

Swedish folk music is the traditional music of Sweden, centered on fiddle-led dance music played for the polska, a couple dance in triple time that defines the tradition. Regional fiddling styles from Dalarna, H盲lsingland and elsewhere, the nyckelharpa keyed fiddle and richly ornamented tunes preserved by spelm盲n, or folk musicians, form its core. Nineteenth-century masters such as *Hjort Anders Olsson* anchored the canon, and revival groups including *V盲sen*, *Groupa* and *Hedningarna* carried Swedish folk music to international stages, blending it with rock, jazz and electronic production.
