Swing musette

Swing musette is the jazz-inflected form of French musette that flourished in Paris dance halls in the 1930s and 1940s, when accordionists absorbed American swing and gypsy jazz into the waltz-based bals musette tradition. Led by players such as *Gus Viseur*, *Tony Mur茅na* and *Jo Privat*, it replaced the musette accordion's tremolo register with a drier jazz articulation, sophisticated harmony and genuine improvisation, typically in small groups with guitar and double bass. Its repertoire of swing waltzes, javas and standards such as "Swing Valse" and "Indiff茅rence" became the classic language of the Paris accordion.
