Swing Revival

The swing revival, also called neo-swing, was a 1990s movement, centred in the United States, that revived the sound, dress and social dancing of the swing era within alternative-rock culture. Bands combined big-band horn sections, walking bass and ride-driven drums with jump blues, rockabilly, ska and punk energy, performing mostly original songs in period style rather than repertory standards. Flamboyant zoot-suit presentation, virtuoso soloing and a revived lindy hop dance scene were integral to the phenomenon, which briefly carried a retro dance subculture into mainstream charts, film and advertising before receding in the early 2000s.
