Symphonic Metalcore

Symphonic metalcore combines metalcore's breakdowns, screamed and clean vocals and down-tuned riffing with orchestral strings, piano, choirs and cinematic arrangements. Where symphonic metal grew from power and gothic metal, this hybrid formed inside the metalcore and deathcore scenes of the late 2000s: *Winds of Plague* placed symphonic keyboards over deathcore on "Decimate the Weak" (2008), and Australian and Swedish acts including *Make Them Suffer* and *Imminence*, the latter adding a full-time violinist, made the orchestral layer structural rather than decorative.
