Tearout

Tearout is the heaviest wing of modern dubstep, an American-led offshoot of brostep and deathstep in which FM-synthesised bass is resampled and distorted to the point of clipping, then arranged in machine-gun bursts, metallic screeches and gunshot-like impacts at 140 to 150 BPM. *SVDDEN DEATH*, through his VOYD project and label, and *Marauda* popularised the style in the late 2010s on labels such as #Never Say Die: Black Label#. Its sound and imagery borrow openly from extreme metal and horror. The name had an earlier life in Britain, where tearout labelled dubstep's aggressive dancefloor wing of 2006 and after.
